A brief introduction to the Auto and Mechanical&Electrical Engineering department
The Auto and Mechanical&Electrical Engineering department of Qiandongnan National Polytechnic was founded in 2011 under the background of the urgent demand of engineering talents for the provincial strategy to achieve a high level of industrialization. It has also kept pace with China’s advancement toward an industrial power and become an important part of the sound and sustainable development made by our college.
For now, our department has 23 professional teachers in total, one of them a professor , five associate professor(technician), 11 of them having intermediate title(engineer, instructor and lab technician), 7 of them independently recruited(engineer and lab technician), 2 of them having master degree and 17 of them having double quality( accounting for 73.9 percent). What is more, many of our teachers have been listed as the excellent instructor in the skill contest by provincial department of education for many times. And the team of auto teaching has also received an award of provincial quality program, worked out two subjects of teaching material and received the second prize in the program design contest among national auto colleges.
We have also established 16 training center intended to enhance student’s professional skills and 3 production bases, which are service center of auto technology, auto driving school and digital control center. They are equipped with more than 1000 sets of teaching facilities and with a total investment more than 10 million yuan so as to provide strong support for the cultivation of skill-oriented talents. What is more, we have also established partnership with 14 companies and engaged into the in-depth cooperation with them so as to set up a complete off-site practice center.
Our department has adapted the talent cultivation mode of 1+1+1 and sought to enhance the cooperation with companies so as to perfect the education by making practice. To be more specific, our students are required to complete the assignment of common and specialized courses in the first year. In the second year, they will focus on the specialized learning activities in the practice base and factory at school. In the third year, they will receive an on-duty internship in companies. Based on the feature of engineering courses as well as the teaching mode of taking task as the carrier and applying theory into practice, our students will be encouraged to enhance their abilities of practice and thinking and improve their skills and knowledge so as to promote the teaching activities. So far, our constant efforts of carrying out reform and innovation in the talent cultivation and teaching mode have gained initial results, which can be proven by the fact that most of our graduates have been well received for their great skills, positive personality and good flexibility.
2. Training courses
Our department now has 8 senior courses, which are car examination and maintenance, car service and marketing, car body repair, electricity supply technology, building electrical engineering technology, mechanical design and manufacturing, electrical and mechanical integrated technology and computer application technology, as well as 11 junior courses, which are car application and repair, electronic technology, whole-vehicle and parts marketing, car decoration, car body repair, mechanical processing technology, electrical and mechanical technology, welding technology and application, the operation and repair of cooling and air-conditioning equipment, electricity supply technology and computer animation and game making.
3. Introduction to some courses
3.1 Building electrical engineering technology (three years basis, two years at school and one year’s internship)
The cultivation goal is to turn out more talents required by the cause of socialist construction in terms of overall development. Our students should be equipped with strong innovational and practical abilities and capable of the design, construction and management of building electrical engineering, fire safety and safety engineering while grasping the basic theory and operation skills of the intelligent equipments installed within the building. Besides the decision-making of project budget, supervision over the project and property management, they should be also able to engage in the design and management of electricity supply system, overall circuit system, electrical control system and fire safety and protection system so as to develop themselves into high-end professional talents.
Major courses: architecture maps identification and electrical CAD, electrical technology and material, electronic technology, electronic and converter technology, electrical measurement technology, motor and electrical driving, programmable control technology, architecture electricity supply and lighting technology, electric and fire safety, brief introduction to structural engineering, water-heating and air-conditioning control, elevator technology, electrical technology in building construction, electrical engineering budget, building intelligence technology, overall circuit and computer network communication engineering, property management, construction regulation, supervision over structural electrical engineering, brief introduction to intelligent building, wired TV and monitoring system
After graduation, our students can be employed in real estate company, building construction company, property management company, construction supervision company, building design company, government organization and institutions in areas such as building electricity supply system, electrical lighting system, overall circuit system, building electrical control system, fire safety design and construction, adjustment and management, project budget, project supervision, construction organization and management, property management and medium-and-small project design.
Professional qualification certificate: certificate of electrical operation, electrician, repair electrician, draftsman, building technician, estimate clerk, surveyor, reference clerk and safety director.
3.2 Electricity supply technology (three years basis, two years at school and one year’s internship)
The cultivation goal is to turn out more talents with high professional and cultural quality required by the cause of socialist construction in terms of overall development. It is targeted at the electricity supply industry, electricity supply system in the mining company, the operation and maintenance of power plant, the installation, adjustment and maintenance of electrical equipment, the modification of electricity grid system and the management of electricity generation.
Major courses: Electrician technology, electronic technology and application, motor and control, electronic technology and application, power distribution in factory, electrical equipment operation and maintenance and relay protection.
Employment orientation: Our students can be employed in areas such as electricity supply system, the installation, adjustment, operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and also get engaged in automation control and computer control technology.
Professional qualification certificate: certificate of electrical operation, electrician and repair electrician.
3.3 Car examination and repair (three years basis, two years at school and one year’s internship)
The cultivation goal is to turn out more talents with high professional and cultural quality required by the cause of socialist construction in terms of overall development. Our students should be equipped with the skill of car repair and examination as well as management ability so as to enter the service-oriented market and get engaged in the senior application such as car examination, repair, maintenance and sales service.
Major courses: basic car application, car parts identification, car maintenance, car motor repair, car power and starting system repair, car motor electrically-controlled system repair, car transmission system repair, car steering and brake system repair, car air-conditioner repair, car automated transmission theory and repair, car failure diagnosis and remedy, car body electrically-controlled system repair and car performance examination.
Employment orientation: car repair, diagnosis, repair, maintenance and sales.

3.4 Electrical and mechanical integrated technology (three years basis, two years at school and one year’s internship)
The cultivation goal is to turn out more talents with high professional and cultural quality required by the cause of socialist construction in terms of overall development. Our students should have a sense of innovation and responsibility and target at the mechanical equipment manufacturing and repair. Based on the requirement of the industry, our students should be equipped with the specialized knowledge of electrical and mechanical integrated technology as well as operation capabilities of equipment assembly, adjustment, maintenance and after-sales services so as to stand out as the high-quality talents needed in the modern industry of electrical and mechanical product.
Major courses: mechanical drawing and CAM, electrical technology foundation, analog electronic technology, NC machine program and operation, factory electrically-controlled technology, programmable controller and mechanical foundation
Employment orientation: Small and medium company, financial organization, institution and government organization, occupations such as cashier, accountant and audit.
Professional qualification certificate: certificate of intermediate electrician, certificate of electrical operation, certificate of intermediate fitter and operator, senior electrician and NC operator.
3.5 Mechanical design and production (three years basis, two years at school and one year’s internship)
The cultivation goal is to turn out more talents with high professional and cultural quality required by the cause of socialist and economic construction in terms of overall development. Our students should have a sense of innovation and responsibility and master the college degree. What is more, they should be also equipped with the knowledge of modern mechanical design and production as well as operation capabilities of equipment assembly, adjustment, maintenance and management so as to stand out as the compound talent target at the production, service and management.
Major courses: mechanical drawing, mechanical design foundation, mechanical manufacturing technology, hydraulic and pneumatic transmission, AutoCAD aided design of mechanical products, NC processing and programming, NC production technology.
